Convenient but underwhelming.

Well located in a well maintained impressive period building. Coffee was good. Swimming pool was very pleasant.

Unremarkable service. Room decor was a little shabby and showing wear and tear. Mini bar was empty and staff could not provide any room service at 10pm as last orders were at 930 (although they could be seen sitting idly in the lobby). Air condition was difficult to operate. Breakfast was luke warm - coffee was good though.

Not too bad for ROM appointment and tea ceremony

The location is lovely if you like being in nature. My partner and I stayed here two nights for a simple wedding at the ROM and a tea ceremony in the room with immediate family. It was a good choice for a fuss free wedding, with a shoot in the morning, the ROM appointment in the evening and a dinner in the Somerset area. I recommend picking a Premium room on the third floor and an adjoining Deluxe room for family stays. The Premium rooms on the second floor are lacklustre - dark, with no view (even though it says "Garden view"). The city view rooms are the ones that have the nicer view, but those are all Deluxe rooms with the toilet/bathroom area facing the courtyard.

The hotel has false marketing on booking.com and on their website. Be careful with what is billed as the 'garden view' of the Premium rooms as the rooms on the 2nd story do not have much of a garden view. It's more like a view of a grass slope, the road to the lobby and a shed. I would have been really upset had a room on the third floor not been available.

Very Good

Overall, our stay was excellent and was what we had hoped for. Quiet and tranquil surrounds and a good location close to restaurants (Clarke Quay) and Transport (MRT)

We had a Park View Room. Did not enjoy having to lower the blinds all the time because of the two-way nature of the windows. We wanted a room with a view of the Park but we did not appreciate we would need to share the view with passing pedestrians looking back at us.

Lovely and relaxing, but expensive.

A hotel in a park is unique in Singapore.

The pool towels are kept 4 floors from the pools, and the towel person is in a really strange location behind the men’s changing room. Why not leave towels by the pool? The check-in / out counter was understaffed at peak times.

Leafy oasis in the heart of the city - a reprieve from the concrete jungle! Comfortable setting. The walk-out patio was a treat. Jimmy (concierge) very helpful.

Great large Rooms but that's about it

The room was spacious and clean

My stay was not entirely a bad one but there are some highlights to consider before you book this hotel The staff: not the most friendly but not rude or anything it's just not the level of a 5 star hotel hospitality The location: the location is good but keep in mind that the hotel is in the middle of a park on top of the hill, so if you're planning to walk anywhere be prepared for a like 5-7 minutes of long stairs The room service food: their pizza is good other than that it's average and they charge in addition to your food bill a "service charge" The rooms: yes it's spacious and clean ( except for the windows which looked like it wasn't cleaned for ages) but keep in mind the rooms are connected together with a door, you can hear other guests speaking or just watching TV, in my opinion the rooms are not quite and there's not much privacy Overall they have nice large rooms, but definitely not a 5 stars hotel experience

Clean and comfortable. However, staff should work on their communication/ensuring guests' safety.

- Bed was very comfortable, my husband had the best sleep :) - It was clean and the location was good, easy to get around the island.

- Safety was an issue. One of the contractors (we think? as hotel was undergoing some minor renovations) entered our patio and started yelling early in the morning, woke us up and my husband had to check to see if it was an intruder. When told staff about it, they just said "sorry about the noise". - Irregularities in staff communication/policies (e.g.: upon check-in, I asked if we have to pay the full amount upfront, staff said no. Upon check-out, we were told we were supposed to pay upon check-in by another staff member, which I had to clarify that their staff mentioned we were only supposed to pay upon check-out.)

Good

The bathtub and rain shower is the best we have tried so far. Really enjoyed it because it is hard to find a hotel that offered such huge bathtub and nice rain showers.

The whole place looks very run down since I stayed here 5 years ago. Really should consider upgrading the whole place again. Breakfast and bed was so so . Not worth the price that I am paying for. Could have stayed at other newer hotels.

Amazing property with a great history and great location.

The property is a tad run down and needs a bit of maintenance. The hotel bar was over priced and not great service

Rest in the Park

Great location in a Park above the city. Helpful staff.

Exterior looks tired, with plants growing out of the walls and roof and sign if lots of damp in paintwork.

The best part of the stay was the interior design of the room. Service is average.

The room and bathroom is amazingly spacious. As seen in the pictures. The exterior architecture is legendary and historical.

Every hotel I visited, especially overseas, the hotel management would always know my birthday according to my identification card/passport and they never fail to surprise me with a complimentary cake, even though it was not requested in advance. I find those little touches make the solo leisure stay so much worthwhile. I was a bit disappointed that for a 5-star hotel, they didn’t do the ‘go-the-extra’ mile for it’s guest. Maybe because I’m just a ‘budget savvy’ local on a staycation instead of a tourist with a wallet full of money. Cleanliness can be further improved especially on the bathroom window blinds. Splatters of soap/toothpaste scum can be visibly seen.

Good place to stay if you like the quaint environment to relax

quaint hotel near Fort Canning Park. comfortable and clean rooms. lobby smelled fresh and had a very nice scent :) staff were helpful, friendly and definitely tried their best to make our stay wonderful and acceded to most of our requests where possible! Dhoby Ghaut mrt and plaza Singapura was a short 10 min walk through the 24 hour linkway.

some facilities, such as the swimming pool and restaurant were pretty old. some of the lights in the room were not working, including flickering lights which were a little annoying. seemed a little short of staff, slightly longer waits for housekeeping. nonetheless, staff were friendly to help out as mentioned in my comment on what was great about the hotel. one thing though - check in process was a little complicated (was charged a portion of the final amount prior to my stay which was a little weird because the amount seemed random. but staff at the front desk promptly reversed it and charged us for the full amount at check in).

Fabulous location on Fort Canning Hill. Great spacious room and nice staff.

It's a fabulous location and the room was great. I lost my watch and it was returned a day later.

The layout of the hotel is quite strange. We arrived early and sat by the pool but the bathroom and showers are in the basement in another part of the hotel and they were dingy and dark.
